About John Fernandes
John describes his solo work as “minimalist ambient looped clarinet” (sometimes with percussion & dancing) He recently played a solo set at the Morris museum in Augusta.
He references parallels with Brian Eno’s Discreet Music – where there are stacked non-synchronous loops. He is also very influenced by bird sounds, and bird song-like sounds can be heard during his set as well as being influenced by modal Indian music (which is John’s ethnic background) – where the music fully develops all the possibilities in a certain musical key.
